Lake Atitlan and surrounding towns

We will depart early in the morning from Antigua Guatemala in a private bus, heading towards the beautiful Lake Atitlan and its surrounding villages. Along the way, about an hour from Antigua, we will make a stop to enjoy a delicious breakfast at one of the cabin restaurants in the charming town of Tecpan, nestled in the Guatemalan highlands.

Upon reaching Lake Atitlan (Panajachel Village, approximately 10 am), we will board a local boat to visit the villages around the lake. Santiago Atitlan is one of the largest municipalities in the area but very authentic. Afterward, we will visit San Juan La Laguna, a town of around 4,000 inhabitants, but full of color, murals, textiles, and beautiful views of the lake. This day will be an opportunity to learn about culture, textiles, and the history of these places.

At the end of our visit, the boat will drop us off in Panajachel, where we will take the bus back to Antigua Guatemala. If you wish, we can include an overnight stay in this beautiful place, allowing you to sleep in a hotel with stunning views of the lake. If your visit coincides with a Thursday or Sunday, we can even visit the famous Chichicastenango market.
