3-Day Package

Day 1 - La Antigua Guatemala

On the first day, we will pick you up for a walk through the cobblestone streets of the colonial city, La Antigua Guatemala, with a local guide. We will visit unique places such as the central square, La Merced Church, Arch Street, and San Francisco el Grande. We will also explore the local and craft markets.

Later, we will take you to a place in the mountains around Antigua, Hobbitenango, just 20 minutes from downtown, where you can enjoy the sunset or take a tour of the beautiful villages around Antigua.

Day 2 - Lake Atitlan

At 6:00 am, we will depart from Antigua Guatemala in a private bus, heading to the beautiful Lake Atitlan and its surrounding villages. We will make a stop on the way (1 hour from Antigua) for a delicious breakfast at one of the cabin restaurants in the beautiful town of Tecpan, nestled in the Guatemalan highlands.

Upon reaching Lake Atitlan (Panajachel Village, approximately 10 am), we will board a local boat to visit the villages around the lake. Santiago Atitlan is one of the largest municipalities in the area but very authentic. Afterward, we will visit San Juan La Laguna, a town of approximately 4,000 inhabitants, but full of color, murals, textiles, and beautiful views of the lake. This day will be an opportunity to learn about culture, textiles, and the history of these places. At the end of our visit, the boat will drop us off in Panajachel, where we will stay. Walking at night on Santander Street is very beautiful. Dining at Circus Bar (a family pizzeria with live music) is highly recommended.

Day 3 - Chichicastenango and Transfer to Antigua

After breakfast, we depart from Panajachel for a guided visit to Chichicastenango. It takes us approximately 35 minutes.

In Chichicastenango, on Thursdays and Sundays, the traditional market takes place. It is considered the largest of its kind in Central America. This market attracts not only local Quiché people but also foreign sellers and buyers, creating a vibrant mix of colors, dialects, and customs. They offer a wide variety of hand-embroidered or handwoven textile products.

We will also visit Cerro Pascual Abaj, located 20 minutes from the town of Chichicastenango. This hill is considered sacred by the Quiché people, and at the top, ancestral customs are practiced before a stone idol known as Pascual Abaj. Santo Tomás Church is an important and historic site in the town of Chichicastenango. Here, the Popol Vuh, the sacred book of the Quiché people, was discovered. The church houses delicate pieces of imagery, and inside, ancestral ceremonies blend with Catholicism. It has a staircase with 18 steps representing the months of the Mayan calendar.

After a delightful lunch at a typical restaurant in a colonial house with live music, we head back to La Antigua Guatemala, approximately a 3-hour journey. You can choose to stay in Antigua Guatemala or transfer to the airport.
